NHS Consultant Appointment
Mrs Sarah Hussain was appointed Consultant Obstetrician & Gynaecologist at Whipps Cross University Hospital in 1995. Her NHS hospital base has therefore been Whipps Cross University Hospital, Whipps Cross Road, Leytonstone, London E11 1NR.
She has recently retired from full time NHS practice to pursue and develop her career in the Private practice.
She continues to see NHS patients through the Choose and Book Referral system, which can be accessed through the GP.
Her practice has encompassed all aspects of obstetrics and gynaecology with a particular interest in urogynaecology, pelvic floor reconstructive surgery & minimal access gynaecological surgery, thus minimising length of in patient stay in hospital. She also ran the outpatient hysteroscopy service for women suffering from menstrual disorders and post-menopausal bleeding for 12 years.
Mrs Hussain was the Lead for Clinical Governance for the Gynaecology and Maternity Unit for Whipps Cross University Trust Hospital in the last 4 years of her NHS Consultant appointment.
She has been involved in teaching of undergraduate and postgraduate students for Obstetrics & Gynaecology. She was the Undergraduate tutor for the Obstetrics & Gynaecology Department for 12 years. She has been a postgraduate examiner for the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologist for 17 years. Mrs Hussain has since 2008 been awarded Associate Clinical Professor from St Matthew's University School of Medicine.
